XDC Properties (Proyecto Altamira 3) Data Center

The Altamira Project, led by Stoneshield Capital and its subsidiary XDC Properties, is a landmark €3.6 billion investment set to establish a transformative data center campus in Cantabria, Spain. Spanning 6.8 million square feet within the Vipar Society industrial estate, it marks the largest financial commitment in the region’s history.

The campus will comprise 12 state-of-the-art data center modules, each designed with a 40MW capacity. Construction will take place in three phases, with the first phase—delivering 100MW—scheduled to begin in January 2026 and complete by 2032. Upon full build-out, the facility will reach a total capacity of 500MW, supported by advanced infrastructure to meet global digital demands.

A strong emphasis on sustainability defines the Altamira Project. The development will feature 75,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels, providing renewable energy to power the campus. This integration of green energy solutions underscores its commitment to environmental responsibility while ensuring long-term operational efficiency.

The project’s location near Meta’s Anjana submarine cable landing station enhances its strategic advantage, enabling low-latency international connectivity. This positions Cantabria as a competitive technological hub in Europe, on par with established data center hubs such as Madrid, Milan, and Frankfurt.

Beyond technology, the project is set to boost the regional economy significantly. It is expected to generate over 1,500 direct jobs during the construction phase and more than 1,450 jobs once operational. This influx of employment and investment will reinforce Cantabria’s role as a driver of digital growth in southern Europe.

When fully built, the Altamira campus will deliver 120MW of power capacity with three child data center listings. Colocation options will include full cabinets, partial cabinets, and shared rackspace, along with additional services such as remote hands to support clients’ operational needs.
