MainOne’s MDX-I Lekki Data Center is a purpose-built, multi-tenant facility that became operational in 2015. It is designed to provide secure floor space for housing IT equipment, complete with all necessary power distribution, cooling, cabling, fire suppression, and physical security systems. The facility features 1,500 sq.m. of fully built-out, expandable whitespace.
Infrastructure and Redundancy
The data center is engineered for high availability and supports a maximum power density of 5 kW/sq.m. The electrical system features 2N UPS redundancy and N+1 standby power redundancy. To maintain optimal operating temperatures, the facility utilizes an N+1 cooling redundancy model.
Connectivity and Network Access
Strategically located next to MainOne’s cable landing station, the facility provides direct access to the 1.92 Tbps international subsea cable. It also connects to a world-class IP NGN network, extensive terrestrial fiber networks, and all major network operators and Internet Service Providers. The data center features one Internet Exchange Point, 67 peering networks, and a Meet-Me-Room (MMR) for interconnection.
Security and Fire Suppression
Physical security is comprehensive, featuring 24/7 onsite security staff, CCTV surveillance, and multi-layered access controls, including mantrap entry, biometric access control, and card access control. For fire protection, the facility is equipped with an FM2000 gas suppression system.
Colocation Services and Amenities
MDX-I offers a variety of colocation options, including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, secure cages, and custom suites. The facility also provides "Remote Hands" support for clients. On-site amenities include a conference room and WiFi access.
Certifications and Compliance
The data center is certified as a Tier III facility by the Uptime Institute and meets Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) 942 Standards. Its operations and processes are also certified and compliant with PCI-DSS, ISO27001, SOC 1 Type II, and SOC 2 Type II standards.
